Privacy policy

Fret Atlas, by Apple Valley Computers. Effective October 1, 2026.

This policy covers the Fret Atlas website and the Fret Atlas apps on Google Play and the Apple App Store. Fret Atlas is a guitar tool that runs on your device. Apple Valley Computers does not operate an account system for it and does not receive your playing, tunings, or setlists.

Microphone

The tuner uses the microphone only while you press Listen. Pitch is calculated on your device. That audio is not recorded, not stored, and not sent to Apple Valley Computers or any other server. You can deny microphone access and still use chords, scales, and setlists.

Information stored on your device

The app saves these settings in local storage on the device so they are still there the next time you open it:

  • Guitar setup and tuning
  • Chart direction
  • Setlists you build
  • Scale, speed, metronome, and tone choices

That information stays on the device. Uninstalling the app, or clearing the site’s data in a browser, removes it.

Network

Chord diagrams, scale patterns, and instrument samples are part of the app. They are not downloaded from Apple Valley Computers when you play. When the device is online, the app may request typefaces from Google Fonts. Google then receives the usual connection details, such as an IP address, under Google’s own privacy policy. The app does not include advertising or a third-party analytics service.

Children

Fret Atlas is not directed at children under 13, and Apple Valley Computers does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will replace this page and the effective date above will change.
